Just letting you know I’m still here! Been a crazy few weeks (more on that below) but thought I better write a quick post to everyone know I haven’t completely dropped off the face of the planet 😉

And quite a good date to write it as it’s exactly one month today until the BODYCOMBAT 50 filming! (plus the other 4 filmings of the day of course). Word on the street is BC50 sees an absolute dream team line up including Andres Vesga (BC47), plus the lovely Shaunna May (BC46) and Judy King (BC43). Doesn’t get much better than that! I’ve officially sorted cover for the day so I can make it and I am uber-excited!

Most of you around the world would’ve released BC48 by now and if you, or your class if you’re an instructor have received it in the same way my classes have they would of loved it. It really is a special release – and especially hard! BC49 is brilliant too so look forward to that. While I’m on the subject of 48 I wore a full Tae Kwon Do dobok (uniform) for this release given that it has such a solid TKD base. OMG – not the smartest thing I’ve ever done by track 6 I was seriously ready to pull the whole thing off, something I’m not so sure my class would’ve appreciated! (or maybe they would of haha ;))

I’ve also posted a few pics from the BODYPUMP 78 instructor workshop at Les Mills Auckland. That was also a special day for me as I was privileged enough to be invited to shadow some of the class. Being on stage in front of 200-250 instructors certainly was a thrill (I mean Glen Ostergaard was actually participating in the class how trippy is that?!). Special thanks to LMNZ for the invitation – you guys are the best.

Anyway – few pics below. Of course if you’ve added me on facebook you’ve probably seen these (if you haven’t please do would love to keep in touch) – I’ll post more about the filmings when I hear, and if you’re coming look forward to seeing you then. It’ll be epic!

Our releases were a bit later than usual this quarter as we had a special guest coming into to town to lend a hand – the one and only Matt Thraxton. A picture speaks a thousand words so I’ll let them do the talking – there’s more on facebook if you’re interested so if you haven’t already feel free to add me there! Since we’ve released now I’ll write a review of BC47 in the coming days, and believe it or not the filming of BODYCOMBAT 49 is close too! Pics to follow – was an epic day!

I’m just writing my review of the latest releases (I’m happy to admit BC45 has really grown on me!) but in the meantime I thought I’d post a few pics from our local releases. If you’re wondering about the balloons everywhere well it was the official 1st birthday of Les Mills Group Fitness at my gym – we officially kicked it off in September 2009 and it’s absolutely going off! I had the pleasure of having the awesome Chris Drake from Les Mills join me for BC45 which was brilliant (Chris actually appears in the latest posters for BC45 [he’s in the middle] and RPM 48! [left]). And I’d have to say BODYATTACK 70 is the first release where I was literally gasping for air after track 4 – OMG!

Anyway, picture is worth 1000 words as they say so here’s a couple to give you a feel (tonnes more pics on facebook if you’re interested so add me there if we’re not already friends :)). Check back in coming days for more info on the GFX too!

Apologies for the lack of posting over the past few days guys – been flat out with local releases here for BODYCOMBAT 44, BODYPUMP 74 & BODYATTACK 69 (plus now being GFM makes it even busier). Every release has been jammed packed and totally gone off! I’ve taught BC44 in its entirety five times now (plus participated in workshop and filming classes of course) so I’m in a fairly decent enough position to review it – which will be my next post. All up BA69 and BP74 have been met with fantastic reception, reponse to BC44 to be honest has been mixed – in fact one of my regulars even asked me if we “have” to do this release for the full two weeks or if we could mix earlier – I’ve launched nine successive BODYCOMBAT releases now (since BC37) and that is absolutely the first time I’ve ever had that reaction. But more on that later!

In the interim a picture tells a thousand words so here’s so pics from our releases – note to coincide with BODYSTEP 80 we themed every release “80’s aerobics style” so if you’re wondering about the crazy outfits now you know! There’s TONNES more pics on facebook so if you haven’t already please add me… (warning these pics have pretty outrageous costumes – I based myself on Richard Simmons; looking back the 80’s were tragic!!)

Ladder run – how many can you do??!! (he did 7!)

Just a quick post with some pics of the first BODYCOMBAT 43 release locally here. The gym themed the release week “Winter Olympics” which made our job interesting as what on earth were we meant to wear? (a ski suit maybe?? yikes!)

Instead we opted for a bit of a Pirate theme (to coincide with track 6) – so if you’re wondering why we’ve got pirate hats and swords with an Olympic logo above our heads… now you know! I immediately raced off after this class to do another release at a gym across town (first one was at 5:30pm – the second 6:30pm – bets on whether I was speeding on that trip!) But I now know BC43 very well so will post my review in the coming days.

In the meantime pics follow – and the BC Advanced Instructor Module is this weekend too so got a bit to write about!

Two releases down one to go! Had the second BC42 local release this week (was at a different gym). Much like the first one it absolutely went off!

T’is the season for out there themes; my first BC42 release was themed as a ‘Hawaiian Luau’ – this one ‘Christmas’ so costumes were just a little on the crazy side! If you’ve added me on facebook you may have seen these already (if you haven’t please do as I do tend to get the updates there a little quicker).

Anyway a picture tells a 1000 words so I won’t write much else – I’m still working on my BODYCOMBAT 42 review and my BODYPUMP 72 review – I apologise for the delay on those… I better hurry or we’ll be launching BC43 before I’m done! Check back soon – in the meantime here’s some pics 😀

Track 5 - split room; over so quick!

Hey team, launched the latest batch of releases at my primary gym (FitCo in Tauranga) this weekend just gone – just one week after workshop! Was a fantastic day – since we’re coming in summer here in NZ we themed the whole day as a Hawaiian Luau (I know it’s a far cry from the suggested muay thai theme!) which went brilliantly – everyone got dressed up into cheesy Hawaiian shirts and grass skirts and had a ball! If you’ve added me on facebook take a look there too as there’s a heap more pics and videos as well.

If you haven’t launched or done BODYCOMBAT 42 yet prepare for a big day – I actually taught the release in its entirety on my own for the first time last night and it’s a tough release alright! I was literally drenched in sweat and gasping for air after that bloody 8 minute muay thai! I know it well enough to give it a full review now so will write that in the coming days (as well as one on BODYPUMP 72). Until then here’s a few pics from the day – check out the grass skirts!

I highly recommend a Luau theme - everyone got dressed up!

Thought I’d post some pics from the latest BODYCOMBAT 41 local release; this one was quite possibly the craziest! This time we stayed faithful to the theme of BC41 “Backyard Brawl“; Denim shorts, ripped tops, black paint all over our bodies and spray painted hair! Was insane! Certainly doing a release in denim is an “experience” haha. Anyway, pictures say 1000 words so I’ll let them do the talking – I’m sure you can tell how entertaining the release was! 😀

The team!

The team!

Hey team, if you’ve added me on facebook you’ve possibly seen these already (along with a vid I’ve uploaded – more to come). This release was pretty special as it was not only the first Les Mills group fitness class to be ever held at this gym (FitCo), but we had Olly Fata come down and team teach with me. It was also the first time I’d ever taught BC41 – so a lot of firsts!

Considering Olly and I didn’t get a chance to go over any of the tracks beforehand, and also given we’d never taught together the entire release went off without a hitch. I’m sure we both were a little apprehensive as to whether we’d “mesh” as a team, and also how the members would respond as they’d never even seen a BODYCOMBAT class before! We needn’t have worried however, everyone loved the class and had a complete ball.

Got another release tomorrow night and another next week so definitely know 41 well enough to review it – will post that soon. In the meantime pics are below – check out the lights!!! 🙂

If you’ve added me as a friend on facebook then no doubt you’ve seen these pics but thought I’d post a few of them here as well (there are more on fb too). For this BODYCOMBAT 40 release we followed the example set at the filming and went with the martial arts gi. Although I’ve achieved a black belt in Tae Kwon Do and Karate I haven’t practised in many years so borrowed a couple of uniforms and off we went. I think it worked quite well!
