BODYCOMBAT 49 sees two changes to these lists; one change to the longest list, at almost 7 minutes track 5 (Don’t Need) is a BIGGY! Track 4 (Lord of The Rings) also made it only the shortest list at 4:17, and track 2 (Kick in the Teeth) almost scrapes into the shortest list as well, missing out by all of one second at 3:17.

BC49 is definitely back end loaded, with 2, 3 and 4 being short at around the 3 or 4 minute mark, and then tracks 5-8 all being reasonably long. So once again if you’re an instructor keep an eye on your playlist length when you start mixing. Lists follow:

BODYPUMP 79

After the Warm-up it’s straight into a new squat combination – four Singles and four Bottom Halves. Then be prepared to have the kitchen sink thrown at your triceps with Extensions, Presses and Overhead Extensions. Even the Abs track has something new – a Reverse Weight Grip that opens up the chest and makes Crunches just a little trickier.

BODYCOMBAT 49

The first couple of tracks use a new style of choreography that warms you up with sets of Kicks before the heart races into the training zone with simple Kick/Punch combos. There are no tricks here, so just go with it.

BODYATTACK 74

Energy, passion, drive and challenge – this release has it all! The full-on Aerobic track will have your heart pounding before your legs are tested with an awesome Lunges/Squats power combo and the new Walking Burpees fire up arms and shoulders. You sure weren’t Born This Way but you’re on the ‘right track’ to a better you.

BODYBALANCE 54

Flowing t’ai chi movements in the Warm-up encourage you to connect breath, body and mind before a series of composition moves combine to make the ultimate complete core workout. Let your mind lift up into the music as you energise your body before you re-enter the stillness of the Meditation track and, eventually, bring your awareness back into the room and re-enter the world.

BODYVIVE 20

To mark the programme’s fifth year you’re invited to celebrate with this release, which is divided into two blocks: low impact but high intensity, and functional strength. As you enter the Integrated Strength track, there’s a surprise for you! Then focus your attention on your hips as you work them using a VIVE tube and a whole lot of willpower.

BODYJAM 58

This is the hottest dance class in the world – The Future Funk of Paris. You’ll feel it drop straight from the first beat, so roll up one leg and get ready to jam. There are three advanced options for this release. This is your class: take it, love it, dance it, own it.

RPM 52

Attack your legs with a release that features short, sharp sprints and some big climbs that’ll get you out of your seats and stretch your lungs to the limits. You’re playing in the Mixed Terrain – racing and climbing – then a series of intervals kick-start your heart rate and smash your legs as you take on the pack. Attack, attack!

BODYSTEP 85

Welcome to the revolution. You can choose your usual kick-butt workout or push your class to another level with the new format. Instructors can now replace Tracks 8 and 9 with the new Athletic Circuit – 7½ minutes of high-intensity interval training including the Weighted Squat, Power Jump and Burpee. Get ready to sweat because this ain’t no dance class.

Posters have hit the net guys! Very similar in style to the last ones – though I’d have the argue these slogans are better. BUT- check out the new calorie count for combat! Finally an accurate reading! (I’ll be able to put these ones up in my gym now!) I’m THRILLED about that – great work LMI!

Lots going this month, loads of updates on their way plus BODYCOMBAT 50 and BODYPUMP 80 filmings next week! I’ll post on those soon after (as much as I’m allowed of course) – in the meantime take a look at the below and let me know your thoughts! (oh, and watch for some REALLY exciting news in the coming days too!)

Well once again, much like my BODYCOMBAT 48 filming post – I am REALLY excited to write this. BODYCOMBAT 49 absolutely kicks ass. Serious serious SERIOUS ass.

Now as per usual I have to do my short disclaimer. If you’ve read my blog before you’ll know I can’t disclose anything specific about the music or choreography. LM like to keep this under wraps till workshops kick off, and they’re the boss! All good though – I can tell you my opinion of the release – and my opinion is it freaken rocked.

BODYCOMBAT 49 was presented by D&R, George from Cyprus and Tamu from Japan. Although the internationals only presented a total of a track each (well actually two half tracks each to be precise) they did really well. I managed to catch a rehearsal class just two days before the filming and I was amazingly impressed by how much they improved in just a mere 48 hour period. I mean let’s face it – it probably doesn’t get much more intimidating than presenting a class to a) a room full of instructors and b) 3 or 4 cameras and the entire Les Mills International production team filming it for release to tens of thousands more! So yep they did a great job.

The release itself? Well I can’t believe I’m saying this now for two releases in a row, but my favourite track was, wait for it… TRACK FIVE! I’ve made no secret about the fact that track five has almost always been the low point for in recent releases for me personally; the likes of The Warriors Code, Proud Mary, Ballroom Blitz etc haven’t really floated my boat. But, that’s all in the past because track 5 in both BC48 and BC49 are freaken amazing! BC49’s track five might even be better than 48’s! Actually coincidentally both of those tracks have been in previous BC releases (in fact the track 5 in BC49 was used in a BC release only 10 or so releases ago!) but the remixes used could not be more different. So definitely get really to rock that one loud as it will go off!!

The rest of 49 is awesome too. Both the upper and lower body warmup tracks have been in recent LM releases – however very different remixes. The lower body track when used in pump wasn’t that great in my opinion – but in combat it works much better. The music for track 3 will surprise you – and make you giggle! Track 4 felt quite a bit like track 4 from BC44, a little bit dark, a little bit ominous – it’s good!

Structurally track 6 felt very similar to track 6 from BC45 (though faster and better!) and the muay thai was kinda rocky. And be prepared to feel like you’ve run a marathon after track 8 as it’s a long one!!! (and a good one!)

Choreography wise, without being specific, 49 is a simple release. Nothing new or fancy, just pure, simple and brilliant! I really can’t rave about it enough.

So again, much like 48 I’m really excited about this one! For those of you that have seen 48 you’ll know what I mean about track 5 – and 49’s better! Woo hoo!

So that’s it in a nutshell! Be excited! Next up is BODYCOMBAT 50 on the 1st of August! Book your tickets to NZ now as that’s gonna be epic! See ya there!

Well amazingly this time has rolled around already! As you may know I always hold off publishing the tracklists until either workshops begin – or when they hit the net on other websites. Well both has officially happened! This quarter each year the tracklists hit the world a little sooner than usual due to the FILEX fitness event in Sydney – LM always seem to combine this with a workshop which means Australians see the releases before anyone else (some gyms in Queensland have released already! Nice!).

For my initial thoughts on BODYCOMBAT 48 see my filming post (yay for an AWESOME track 5!!!) and the BODYCOMBAT 49 filming is just days away so check back for more info on that! Track list follows – love to hear your thoughts and enjoy! 🙂

Two Million Visitors?!

A couple weeks ago whilst I was away in Sydney for UFC 127 (I know how lucky am I!?!) without my realising it this very blog had its TWO MILLIONTH visitor. How crazy is that?!

Just goes to show how many fitness fanatics there are out there! In a time where it seems people are getting less fit and moving less it’s just awesome websites like this are going from strength to strength – in fact when I started this blog a couple years ago it averaged about 50 visitors a week – now it averages 5000-6000 per day!

I do thank you for visiting and I will try to keep this updated as I can …though admittedly these days with 45 hours per week at my “day job” and teaching 10-12 classes per week on top of I seem to be running out of hours in the day!

However, lots to write about. I’ve still not technically written a review of BODYCOMBAT 47 – but I will be doing that shortly as I’d love to hear your thoughts. Plus – I’ll just have to write about BODYPUMP 77 – how amazing is that release! And, the filming of BODYCOMBAT 49 is just a few weeks away so will be sure to tell you all about that too.

Anyway, the point of this post is really just to thank you for coming and bothering to read my aimless ramblings. When I began writing this I actually just did it as an outlet for all my random BODYCOMBAT and fitness related thoughts – I never actually figured anyone would be interested, let alone read it – but what it’s turned into is a little mini community of likeminded people all sharing their passion and that is just AWESOME. So big thank you to you, it’s such a thrill to make contact with so many motivated and passionate people, whether it be here, at the filmings, or on facebook. In short – YOU GUYS ROCK!

Hi guys, below are the dates for the next round of filmings. And, if you’re an international and you want to be here for the big ones: the 20 year anniversary of BODYPUMP; BODYPUMP 80, plus the big half century for BODYCOMBAT; BODYCOMBAT 50 – then start planning for 27 July 2011 for BP80 and 1 August 2011 for BC50. They’ll be huge! Note all these dates are subject to change by Les Mills International. But first things first – April/May dates below – see ya there!
